Tom and Becky Fernandez

Tom and Becky have been directing Island Breeze for many years and have implemented some exciting ventures in the areas of training and evangelism. Their hearts are to train people to be effective ministers of the Gospel whether it's on the stage or in third world countries or in their own back yard of Hawaii.

They have 3 children. Mikala, Kaenoa and Ka'elele.

MAKAPALA BASE LEADERS

Eruera and Lis Kawe

Eruera and Lis have been serving Island Breeze as a couple since 2004 and have a passion to see particularly native people discipled and sent outside of their own familiar surroundings and into the world.

They both co-lead the Mission Adventures program and the Frontier Missions arm of Island Breeze.

Kealoha and Taimane Kaopua

Kealoha and Taimane are two of the original members of Island Breeze. Kealoha is very involved in the community as a spokesperson for the Hawaiian people and as a cultural advisor and kahu to Calvary Community Church, Island Breeze Productions and the Ironman Triathlon Hawaii. Taimane is the Managing Director of Island Breeze Productions and has a passion to teach and encourage others so that they my fulfill their potential. They have two children - Victoria and Joseph.

Peni and Christine Patu

Peni has served with Island Breeze Ministries for more than 20 years. He has served as both the Director of the Discipleship Training School and Founder of Mighty Warriors for Christ. Peni now serves on the eldership of the ministry and fulfills his passion of teaching and travelling. Christine Paoakalani Patu was born and raised in Hilo. She carries on the family tradition of kumu hula as she is the Kumu/Director of the Island Breeze Hula Studio that impacts more than 50 girls through Polynesian dance instruction every week. She is also responsible for the production side of Island Breeze and is a very talented choreographer. They have two daughters - Celestine and Chenia.

Siona and Leina'ala Fruean

Both Siona and Leina'ala have grown up in Island Breeze. They have worked with Island Breeze in New Zealand as well as Hawaii. Siona is from American Samoa, while Leina'ala was born and raised in Kailua-Kona. Siona has a heart for mentoring young people especially in the area of vocal training. Siona recently won a statewide singing competition and released a single. You can find it on itunes! Leina'ala has studied and been a tremendous influence on the minstry, helping to raise the bar in our education in Hawaiian culture. She has taught in immersion programs on the Big Island and has served many through her knowledge of the Hawaiian language and culture. They have two children - Tahila and Laukoa.

Both Carmen and Hugo have been with the ministry for more than 3 years. Hugo is orginally from Chile and Carmen from Argentina. They have been involved with staffing Island Breeze's Discipleship Training Schools, Mission Adventure and Camp Lokahi. They are headquartered in Makapala and participate in the renovation, maintenance and hospitality of the property. They both have a passion for mentoring people and have a heart for ministry focused on the family. They have one son - Samuel.
